Arborist Assessment in an Emergency

Not every emergency tree situation is what it appears to be at first glance. A partially fallen tree may be more or less stable than it looks. A tree that appears healthy might have hidden internal decay that makes it more dangerous than a visibly damaged one. Having a qualified arborist attend an emergency situation means the risk is properly assessed before any cutting begins. This protects the safety of everyone on site and often results in a more efficient and effective response than simply cutting everything as quickly as possible.

Works on Fallen and Hanging Limbs

Fallen limbs and hanging branches in trees are among the most common call-outs we deal with in the Fordingbridge area. A limb that has broken but not fully separated from the tree can be held up by surrounding branches, creating a serious hidden hazard known in the industry as a widow-maker. These need to be rigged and released carefully by someone who understands how the load will shift as the limb is cut free. Our team is fully equipped with ropes, rigging hardware and the experience to handle these situations safely.

Clearing Access Routes After Tree Failure

A fallen tree across a driveway, road or access track can cause significant disruption. We work efficiently to clear fallen trees and large limbs from access routes, cutting them into manageable sections and removing the material from site. If the tree has also damaged fencing or structures, we can advise on or carry out repairs as part of the same visit where possible. Our aim is to get you back to normal as quickly as we can.

ABOUT US

Future Trees & Garden Maintenance was founded over 20 years ago right here in the Fordingbridge area. We have worked in back gardens in Breamore, along the lanes of Woodgreen, on large rural estates near Rockbourne, and on roadside trees throughout the New Forest fringe. We attended an emergency on a rural property near Three Legged Cross where a large storm-damaged ash had dropped a limb weighing several hundred kilograms onto the roof of a stable block overnight. The limb was partially resting on the roof and partially still attached to the tree. We stabilised the limb with ropes, cut it free section by section, and removed it without any further damage to the building. The horses were back in the stable block that same afternoon.

How quickly can you respond to emergency tree works in Fordingbridge?

We aim to respond to emergency tree works in the Fordingbridge area as quickly as possible within our opening hours of Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm and Sunday 7am to 1pm. In genuine emergencies involving immediate danger to life, please call 999 first. For all other urgent tree situations, call Future Trees on 07401 310677.

Who is responsible for a tree that falls across the boundary in Fordingbridge?

In most cases, the owner of the land the tree is growing on is responsible for the tree and any damage it causes, though this depends on whether there was prior knowledge of a defect. This is a legal question and we recommend taking professional advice. Future Trees & Garden Maintenance can provide a written record of the situation and any works carried out, which may be helpful for insurance or legal purposes.

Can emergency tree works be carried out on a TPO tree near Fordingbridge?

Emergency works to make a site safe can be carried out immediately on protected trees when there is a risk to life or property, but the local planning authority must be notified as soon as possible afterwards. Future Trees & Garden Maintenance is familiar with the rules around Tree Preservation Orders in the Fordingbridge area and can advise you on your obligations.
